Protein carboxymethylation in murine neuroblastoma; Effect of methyltransferase inhibitors

  • Chapter
Biochemistry of S-Adenosylmethionine and Related Compounds

Abstract

The C-1300 murine neuroblastoma (MNB) was initially observed in the spinal cord of albino A/J mice (Dunham and Stewart, 1953). This spontaneously arising neurogenic tumor has generally been maintained in vivo by subcutaneous implantation of disaggregated cells or tissue fragments into recipient animals (Arima, et al, 1973) and in vitro, via isolation of discrete clones, using tissue culture techniques (Augusti-Tocco and Sato, 1969). Recent studies in our laboratory have further defined the biological characteristics of MNB (Pons, et al, 1981) and its apparent usefulness in elucidating the mechanism of action and efficacy of potential chemotherapeutic agents.
