Abstract
The objective of this paper is to provide a framework for analysing the expenditure policies of oil revenue in industrialised countries. It is a case study of the United Kingdom, covering the twenty-five year period from 1976 — the commencement of the generation of the UK petroleum sector — to the year 2000.
Finance for this research was provided by the Social Science Research Council. Roger Strange and Stephen Hall worked as research assistants on this project.
The writer is grateful to Stephen Frowen for his useful comments and suggestions.
