Summary

A complete plate forming press system for forming offshore and ship has been developed. This consists of portal presses or vertical presses with capacity from 1,000 to 10,000 ton. The presses are equipped with handling system for plates and measuring devices in tools for computer calculated and computer controlled plate forming. The presses have compact modern design with prestressed, wire-wrapped side frames. Several applications are illustrating the versatility of the portal press systems. With computer control effective production is reached with accuracy and safety. No “long experienced operator” is needed.
