Abstract

The common ash, Fraxinus excelsior, is widespread throughout Britain, especially on calcareous sites. The manna ash, F. ornus, from Southern Europe and Western Asia, is often planted in parks and gardens, in which a few other introduced ash species may also sometimes be found.
