Abstract

This imposing title simply means the connection of the microprocessor to the outside world. Up to now we have considered the microprocessor as a self-contained entity and paid little regard to what has to be done so that it can do something useful. The interface is the term for the hardware and software in the area between the processor and the ‘something useful’.
