Abstract

Any equation involving the derivatives of one variable with respect to another variable is called a differential equation. Examples of a differential equation are \((i)\frac{{dy}}{{dx}} = 2x\), \((ii)\frac{{dy}}{{dx}} + 2xy = {e^x}\). Equations (i) and (ii) are said to be first order differential equations since the highest derivative each one contains is the first.
