Abstract

An economical manufacturing method of blanking tool applicable to a small lot production has been developed. Roughly finished or soft metal die is prepared and a thin bainite steel sheet fixed on the die is blanked by a precisly finished punch. The thin hard bainite steel edge left on the die edge reinforces the soft cutting edge. The accuracy of blanking tool depends on that of punch and the clearance of punch and die is zero. The adjustment of tool alignment and the regrinding of worn cutting edge are unnecessary.

This paper deals with the details of manufacturing method of various types of bainite steel sheet laminated blanking tool. And also the blankig test with this tool are conducted and the qualities of blanked parts and the tool life are confirmed to be quite acceptable.
