Abstract
To begin with, it should be noted that as a result of the nature of primary products LDCs face problems of two kinds: one of a long-term nature, arising out of the existence of adverse terms of trade, and another affecting them in the short term, and consisting of the instability of incomes derived from their exports of these products. Tironi’s work deals with these problems, and with others that go beyond international trade and bear upon aspects of the organisation of the production of primary resources (and minerals in particular) and upon problems of distribution (securing control of the profits).
