From Lady Rhondda, ‘Recollections of GBS’, Time and Tide, 11 November 1950. Margaret Haig Thomas, Viscountess Rhondda (1883–1958) inherited her title and considerable business interests from her father in 1918. Two years later she founded the weekly political review Time and Tide, taking over the editorship in 1926, and devoted the rest of her life and some £250,000 to it. Shaw would not accept payment for his contributions.
