Abstract

The UK forklift truck industry is a post-war industry. Between 1951 and 1961 production nearly trebled, as it did between 1961 and 1971; it reached 24,000 in 1974, but has declined sharply in the recent recession (Business Monitor, 1951–76).

Much of the information in this chapter is taken from Senker, Sciberras, Swords and Huggett (1977).
