Abstract
Without moralising, we may profitably study history to select those parts we should like to see repeated. Surely the phenomenal burst of fruitful innovation we have just recounted represents the sort of thing that scientists, research directors and business managers would like to think could be induced to occur again in similar or different fields. Judging by the recent literature on the subject, a great deal of thought and effort is being expended to find and nurture the seeds of creativity and innovation.
It is easy for imagination to be eloquent but hard for it to be fair. No moralist should write history.−Will Durant
