Abstract

The reconstruction of the history of the human population presents considerable difficulties since we have to wait for modern times to see countries accumulate accurate statistics on population. All through the earlier historical times records are very scarce and probably subject to large errors, and they are of course non-existent for prehistoric times. Attempting to make a reasonable guess is the best one can do in many cases. It is nevertheless possible to reconstruct roughly the history of population.
