Abstract
If the analysis of religion given here is correct, especially that in the first chapter, then the future of religion, and particularly of any reasonable religion, must be intimately linked with the question: Is there after all, a cosmic deliverance? Is there really any salvation? What is the best that we have realistic grounds to hope for? This question leads beyond the bounds of the present essay; however in the judgement of the author it is without doubt the most pressing question in religion, and for the answer we must now look, not so much to religion, but to the philosophy of religion—if indeed it can be answered at all.
