The redistribution of world purchasing power brought new influences to bear on fashion-making. Blue and brown are the colours of the desert. They are a traditional mix in oriental art, notably in Persian rugs. By 1977 the blue-and-brown combination had become popular even in Chicago, where blue and brown umbrellas were the season’s rage!
