Abstract

The reporting of general election results emphasises the total United Kingdom outcome; inevitably, distinctive electoral outcomes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland tend to be swamped by English votes and seats. The tables in this chapter are meant to complement the extant literature about British election results, by giving detailed tabulations of electoral outcomes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. In this way, the reader can note the very considerable differences in the party systems of each part of the United Kingdom.
