Summary
Methods for the large-scale production of genetic models of obesity are reviewed. Particular emphasis is placed upon a knowledge of the genetics of the model to assist in its efficient production. The possibility of identifying heterozygotes of a recessive mutant by non-genetic means is investigated both to assist in efficient production and also as an aid in the search for the primary lesion in these models.
