Abstract
The Autocracy of Mr. Parham, written in 1929, is a satirical fantasia in which Wells lampooned a number of leading political figures of the day. There are thinly disguised caricatures of Max Beaverbrook (Sir Bussy Woodcock), Ramsay Macdonald (Ramsy McDougal), Mussolini (Paramuzzi), and other personalities of the time—portrayals made all the more explicit by the amusing illustrations by David Low which adorn the book.
