Abstract

The prime objective of a reservoir is to collect and store water that is in excess of immediate requirements and then to make it available when there is a shortage. This shortage may occur in the vicinity of the reservoir or in another area of the country, reflecting the differing amounts of rainfall experienced by different regions.
