Part of the book series: Foundations of Biology

Abstract

The purpose of this book is to give some indication of the very wide variety of animals and plants found on the earth today. The book is concerned mainly with their external features and the ways in which they have become adapted to their own particular environments. However, if the relationships of these organisms to each other are to be understood, we have to know something of the internal organisation of their bodies.
