Theology is clearly not knowledge as that word is used in modern logic. It is not knowledge as knowledge is exemplified in empirical science. So obviously is this the case, that one is led to ask why anyone should spend time and effort on theology. It presents itself on a first view as a set of assertions about real existence; but on inspection we find it impossible to understand what it asserts or to discover what right it has to assert it. Why is it still kept alive?
