Abstract
The origins of the Kuwaiti people and the development of their social structure and attitudes have already been described in Chapter 2. However, the recent marked economic changes have brought about equally rapid changes in the social conditions in Kuwait, including changes in the size and composition of the population, the composition of the labour force, employment levels and the distribution of wealth and income. It is to these topics we turn in this chapter.
