Abstract

The r.m.s. values of the e.m.f.s E1 and E2 induced in the primary and secondary windings respectively are, with a sinusoidal supply

$$\begin{array}{*{20}{c}} {{E_1} = 4.44f{N_1}{\Phi _m}} \\ {{E_2} = 4.44f{N_2}{\Phi _m}} \end{array}$$

where f = supply frequency (Hz), N1 and N2 = respective number of turns on the primary and secondary windings, and Φm = maximum value of the magnetic flux (Wb) in the core (the flux waveform is assumed to be sinusoidal).
