Abstract

The third working sitting of the conference was under the chairmanship of Congressman Charles Mosher, ranking minority member of the committee on science and technology of the United States House of Representatives. The rapporteurs were Dr Michael Pollak of the OECD Secretariat and Dr Karl-Friedrich Scheidemann, ministerialdirektor in the German Federal Ministry for Research and Technology. Their reports were presented to the conference, respectively, by Jean-Jacques Salomon, head of the science policy division at OECD, and by Mr Jörg Hermann Gösele of the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology. The discussion leader was Dr Reginald Bennett MP, member of the steering committee of the British Parliamentary and Scientific Committee.
