Abstract
Interviewed after the performance, Mr. Yeats expressed himself pleased with the progress of events. ‘Gradually,’ he said, ‘the audience are beginning to see what the play means. We always had the stalls with us, but to-night for the first time we had the majority of the pit on our side, and any protests that there were were perfectly fair. If members of the audience object to certain parts of the play, of course they have a perfect right to express their dissent in a reasonable way.’
