When it became clear that Britain, Denmark and Ireland were to be admitted as members of the European Economic Community, it became necessary to make some arrangements for the other members of EFTA. Indeed, Britain had always understood that satisfactory arrangements would be made for her EFTA partners should she herself join the Community.
