Welcome from UNESCO

Abstract

It is with much pleasure that I convey to this distinguished gathering the greetings of the UNESCO International Council of Sport and Physical Educa­tion under whose auspices the IVth International Seminar on Biomechanics is being held. The Council’s President, the Rt. Hon. Philip Noel Baker, has asked me to assure you of his personal interest in this conference. The fact that we are meeting in the United States is chiefly due to the interest taken in the activities of the Council by Dr. Richard Nelson. I would also like to mention my longstanding friendship with the President of Pennsylvania State Univer­sity, Dr. John Oswald, who for several years headed the University of Kentucky.
