Abstract

‘I want those whom I teach to become free human beings, sceptical of authority, capable of seeing through and rejecting the ideological props of existing social institutions, capable of directing their own lives and their own society. To talk of “imposing” these values is self-contradictory; but I would certainly want others to acquire them, and I would certainly teach with that end in view.’1
