Abstract
The specification forms an extremely important document on building maintenance, conversion and improvement contracts, as it constitutes a schedule of instructions to the contractor and prescribes the materials and workmanship requirements. When read in conjunction with the contract drawings, and bill of quantities where one is prepared, it provides all the information that a contractor will need to price the work and carry it out.
