Abstract
THIS chapter is called a digression for two reasons. First, the logical principles that I am endeavouring to expound are in no way affected by the answers to the questions raised in it. Secondly, I do not claim to be able to furnish the answers. Each of the other chapters professed to give positive solutions to the problems discussed; I like to think that these together might serve as the foundations of a fully articulated theory of logic. This chapter will provide no such foundations.
