Abstract

Much of EFTA’s work on non-tariff distortions of trade has shown concern for one or both of the following principles:

  1. (a)

    any EFTA solutions to non-tariff distortions of trade should not discriminate unduly against other trading partners (principally in relation to the GATT);

  2. (b)

    EFTA work should establish a basis for functional cooperation with the EEC whenever possible.
