Abstract
Dr Stadler argued that a contradiction existed between the economic goals which Professor Possony believed desirable and the non-economic values which he considered important. The maintenance of ‘ethnic integrity’ was incompatible with sustained economic growth. Moreover, he offered no justification for economic development, nor any estimate of its social costs and differential benefits.
