Abstract

Electronic calculators are used in almost every walk of life, and the basic functions carried out by these machines are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. More complex machines carry out involved calculations such as taking square roots, generating logarithms, etc. In this chapter we concern ourselves with the principles of the four basic functions, the more complex operations being the concern of books on computers.
