The Profile of a Helical Slot Machined by a Disc-Type Cutter with an Infinitesimal Width, Considering Undercutting

  • Chapter
Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Machine Tool Design and Research Conference

Summary

An exact analytic solution is presented for the profile of a helical slot machined by an elementary disc-type cutter with zero width, taking into account undercutting. The profile of the helical slot produced by a profiled cutter can be built by superposition of the solutions of the infinitesimal cutters.
