Abstract
In a book of this length it would be both futile and impossible to give a comprehensive account of all the statutory provisions which govern safety in British factories, offices and shops. Here we shall concentrate on the Factories Act, 1961 examining in detail one or two of its major provisions. At most, we can aim to show how the courts have tackled certain problems and from this hope that the reader will understand in some degree how the courts set about dealing with statutory provisions affecting safety.
