Abstract

Mankind everywhere has a basic biological need for the regeneration of body and spirit which comes from various forms of recreation. In developed countries where rapid economic growth is meeting most material needs there is a growing demand for greater and more diversified opportunities for recreation. The use of labour-saving devices in industry and commerce and in the home leaves people with more free time but simultaneously tends to make work monotonous and unsatisfying. It becomes all the more important that they should be able to use their leisure to replenish their physical, psychological and emotional energies.
