Part of the book series: Macmillan Engineering Evaluations ((MECS))

Abstract

Vacuum heat treatment is probably the area of materials processing in which the greatest advances have been made over the last decade. Breakthroughs in furnace design, coupled with an increasing awareness of the relative economics of the process, have contributed to a rapid expansion of the process from the high cost exotic material areas to the general engineering field.
