Abstract

Wherever electrical power is being utilised protection devices are necessary. The prime functions of electrical protection devices may be specified as :

  1. (a)

    To protect personnel and items in contact with or in close proximity to the electrical equipment in which the protection devices are fitted.

  2. (b)

    To protect components within the equipment from damage due to external causes or failure.
