Variable Speed Drives

Once it has been established by a machine designer or user that there is a necessity for driving a certain piece of machinery at a variable speed, the designer is able to select from many and varied methods of obtaining a variable speed output. The desired result may be achieved by three basic methods: (1) Mechanically. (2) Hydraulically. (3) Electrically. However, many forms of these basic methods are available, resulting in considerable difficulty in narrowing down the choice.
