Abstract

The need for reliability is nowhere more obvious than in the armed services. In the last war even the most complex of aircraft were simple compared with the highly advanced technical products which make up modern air forces. Because of the large numbers the unserviceability of a few simple aircraft was fairly minor problem and did not call for enormous stocks of spares.
