Abstract
Resistance materials may be grouped into the two broad categories, bulk and films. Wires, ribbons and foils fall into the first classification and are used as resistance elements when first class stability and low temperature coefficients of resistance are required or when high power dissipation with small size are the requisite. Film elements, on the other hand, offer greater flexibility and allow a very wide resistance range to be covered whilst managing to retain small physical size and non-inductive properties.
