Abstract

One who is anything but expert in modern general equilibrium theory may well hesitate to comment on Arrow’s paper. The admirable ‘mug’s guide to the existence game’ of Quirk and Saposnik,1 however, both encourages the attempt, and ensures that some relevant ideas are common knowledge.
