Abstract

G. E. M. Anscombe (2)* tells of a man out shooting who misperceived his father as a stag, with fatal consequences. What the huntsman was looking at was, in fact, his father; but his father looked to him like a stag, and, thinking that he was shooting a stag, the huntsman shot his father.
