Abstract
In this final chapter we shall discuss some of the practical applications of the principles of colorimetry in science and technology. These applications are rapidly increasing in number, and are not restricted to colorimetry merely as a means of specification. In the first edition of this book the author could only sketch in broad lines the significance of colorimetric principles for illuminating engineering, colour reproduction techniques such as colour photography, colour television, etc. More recently, fluorescent lamps have turned colour into an important aspect of lighting; colour television has reached the stage of practical application; and the combination of spectrophotometry and electronic devices have made it possible to predict the correct formulation of pigments and dyes, to mention but a few of the most important developments.
