Design as Mind-imposed

  • Thomas McPherson
Part of the New Studies in the Philosophy of Religion book series (NSPR)

When we look about us we see evidence of design. So the Argument from Design tells us. Is it possible, however, that this design is not really there, but that we somehow read it into our experience? (This view is to be distinguished from the view that the Argument may depend on prior belief in the sense that we are able to see design in the universe (only) if we first believe in God as supreme designer. That view does not assume that design is not really there. Quite the contrary.)
