Highway Engineering

  • Chapter

Abstract

A considerable amount of site investigation work is necessary to ensure that highway projects are satisfactorily located, designed and constructed. Soil surveys are concerned with the investigation of sub-surface materials, taking samples for laboratory soil testing and the preliminary examination and classification of soil types, sometimes coupled with in situ testing.
