Town and Country Planning

  • Chapter
Municipal Engineering Practice

Abstract

Town and country planning is necessary to ensure that all development is co-ordinated with an eye to the future, and carried out in such a way that it will assist in producing a community environment that will advance human welfare in health, well-being and safety. The best results in planning will be achieved by effective teamwork on the part of the professions involved, which include municipal engineers, architects and surveyors as well as geographers, economists, sociologists, etc. The skills required are so diverse that no one individual or profession could possibly possess them all.
