Abstract
One of the problems in controlling the operations of a fleet of vehicles is to reduce to a minimum the idle time of drivers and vehicles. Not all the drivers report to work every morning, so that if the number of vehicles exceeds the number of available drivers, some vehicles will become idle. If, on the other hand, too many drivers are available, drivers’ idle time is incurred. The problem is to determine how many drivers should be employed for a given vehicle fleet.
