Abstract

In everyday life events frequently occur for the behaviour of which, it seems to us, no valid reason exists. These phenomena also arise in industry and, where the adjustment of production processes is concerned, it is necessary to investigate whether apparently haphazard occurrences can be explained in some way or other.
