Abstract

There are six papers in this section: the first three deal with the problem of unemployment in the United States — its level, composition, causes, and proposed remedies; the next two papers discuss the contrasting situation in Europe where, in most countries, full employment and rapid technological change have gone hand in hand; the final paper is concerned with one of the consequences of advancing technology, increased leisure, and how it is likely to be utilized by workers.
