Book cover Analysis of Surge

Abstract

When pressure head is plotted against velocity for the passage of a waterhammer wave past a fixed point in a pipe, a straight line is always obtained. The slope of the line is ± λ since by Joukowski’s law (equation 3.8) h = ‒λΔυ.
